PURPOSE:To utilize a coffee waste effectively, and to enable the fatting and the increase in the egg-laying capability of a chicken by the high nitrient value of the waste, by treating a powdery waste of coffee beans with microorganisms, and using the reaction product especially as a feed for a chicken. CONSTITUTION:The skin (X) peeled off in the roasting of coffee beans, the powdery residue (Y) left after the extraction of hot coffee, and the powdery residue (Z) left after the extraction of iced coffee are used as the powdery waste of coffee beans. The above microorganism is bacteria such as Gram-negative aerobic bacilli and cocci, Gram-positive bacilli and cocci, and Gram-positive asporogenic bacilli, etc. or sporogenic or asporogenic yeasts. Microorganisms and/or microorganisms-containing substances are added to at least one of the above X, Y and Z, and if necessary a proteineous feed is added thereto. The mixture is stirred with a mixer almost continuously for about 20-50hr to effect the fermentation of the mixture and obtain a feed. Preferably, the above reaction product is added in an amount of about 10-50wt% to commercially available feed and the mixture is fed to an animal. |
