PURPOSE:To obtain the small-sized device which facilitates focusing by shooting some specific pattern during the focusing and making an adjustment so that the expected number of picture elements of the shot pattern is satisfied, and thus detecting an in-focus state. CONSTITUTION:The image pickup element 2 of an image pickup part utilizes characteristics of DRAM, so that when refreshing operation is stopped, a part irradiated with light becomes short in memory erasure time and becomes sensitive to light. The time when the refreshing operation is stopped is controlled to control an exposure time electrically. Binary image data detected by the image pickup element is transferred to and stored in the memory 3 of an image processing part. Then, the CPU4 of the image processing part accesses this memory to count the number of data indicating that exposure is performed and then calculates the position of an exposed part to output the result. |
