PURPOSE:To efficiently store character, graphic form, etc. by separating a code data and an image data, and independently encoding, compressing, and storing. CONSTITUTION:In case of storing a character and image data from a picture image buffer 3 to the file in a disc device 8, the encoded input of said data is transferred from a character-code buffer 6 to a control part 2. This transferred character data is filed and stored in the device 8. Then, the control part 2 decides the location and number of the characters, and then outputs, to the location in the buffer 6 corresponding to that in the device 8, the control code not to be displayed or the code of blank up to the number of the characters, and further, deletes respective character from a buffer 3 and a CRT monitor 4. This process is applied to all of the character data, and only the left image data are transferred from the buffer 3 to the control part 2. The data is subjected to processing of encoding and compression, and then filed and stored in the device 8.
