PURPOSE:To obtain the titled working substance having superior magnetic working properties in a wide working temp. range by regulating the composition of an amorphous Fe alloy having large magnetic moment and spin glass property so that the alloy has a desired magnetic transition point and by adiabatically demagnetizing the alloy in a weak magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:An element for producing an amorphous state such as C, B, Si, Al, Hf, Zr, Y, Sc or La is added to Fe to obtain an amorphous alloy having the large magnetic moment and the spin glass property. The composition of the alloy is regulated so that the alloy has a desired magnetic transition point in the temp. range from a high temp. to a low temp., and the alloy is adiabatically demagnetized in the weak magnetic field applied by an ordinary electromagnet. When the alloy is arranged into a unit as a refrigerating working substance, the magnetic transition point can be continuously changed by continuously changing the composition, so the superior magnetic working properties are provided in a wide working temp. range. |
