PURPOSE:To obtain a black ion-plated film having superior adhesion by regulating the oxygen content in an ion-plated film consisting essentially of Ti, N and C to a specified percentage or less of the Ti content. CONSTITUTION:A black ion-plated film of 0.2-2mum thickness consisting essentially of Ti, N and C is formed on a stainless steel watchase. At this time, the inside of a bell jar is covered with Ti and vacuum-backed. The oxygen content in the film is regulated to <=40% of the Ti content by the action of the Ti as getter.
