PURPOSE:To enable sufficient visual confirmation of printing during printing even if a type wheel is inclined for the sake of compactness, by providing a notched part wherein one or more type do not exist within a row of types of the type wheel. CONSTITUTION:When an arbitrary type 13 of a type wheel 12 is positioned to a printing position by a selecting motor 15, an ink ribbon 16 is moved in the direction of an arrow E and the type 13 is hit by a printing hammer at a platen 19, a character 17 is printed on paper 18 with ink of an ink ribbon 16. After printing, the ink ribbon 16 is returned in the opposite direction to a direction of the arrow E, the type wheel 12 is shifted to the next printing position, then a spoke 14' part which does not possess the type 13, that is, the center of a notched part is positioned to directly above or a little to the left by the selective motor 15 and waits for the next printing instructions. After the printing, as the printing can be confirmed visually through the notched part, it is good even if a distance between the platen and type wheel is not taken large, which causes enormous effect to the service life of the type wheel and printing quality also. |
