PURPOSE:To enable the continuous rolling of thin plate, etc. by joining the rear end of preceding sheet bar and the tip of succeeding sheet bar by the joining machine provided on the travelling truck travellable simultaneously with the carrier speed of sheet bar. CONSTITUTION:The sheet bars 17, 18 rolled in the prescribed thickness by rough rolling mill are fed on a delaying table 15 and lifted from the pass line of the delaying table 15 by guide 13a and passed through the pass line of strip plate running joining device 1. Then the tip part of the succeeding sheet bar 18 and the rear end part of the preceding sheet bar 17 are clamped by clamped by clamping device 8 after positioning so that the respective end face becomes in the prescribed joining position. The end face of the sheet bar 17, 18 is thereafter joined by the joining machine 7 provided on the upper part frame 6. The clamping device 8 is released after the joining and the sheet bar 17, 18 is fed to the side of finishing rolling mill as continued sheet bar.
