PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of a rolling stock by providing a mechanism, used for preventing the deflection of a work roll of one side and controlling the deflection of a work roll of the other side with respect to the horizontal direction, in case of using a mill as a five high mill. CONSTITUTION:Large-diam. work rolls 2, 3 are supported by backup rolls 6, 7, when a mill is used as a four-high mill. When the mill is changed into a five-high mill, small-diam. work rolls 4, 5 are incorporated into the outlet side 11 of the mill after extracting the work roll 2, and the roll 3 is used as an intermediate roll. At that time, intermediate rolls 12 and backup rolls 13 are provided to the small-diam. work rolls 4, 5. By this mechanism, the deflection of the roll 4 in the horizontal direction is prevented, and the shape of a rolling stock is controlled by advancing and retreating to/from the inlet side 10 of the stock. Accordingly, the accuracy of a rolling stock is improved. |
