PURPOSE:To enable an article to be positively held by allowing both side of the article to be held by both a holding plate and an inserting plate so as to allow the article to be stuck to the holding plate 35 and 36. CONSTITUTION:An article 2 which is positioned at a loading point 3, is carried into a carry-in position 2 by means of a carry-in conveyor 4. Then, a lifter 8 is lowered so as to allow holding plates 35 and 36 of a holding device 33 to be positioned on the both sides of an article B. Subsequently, the movable holding plate 36 is moved toward the article B with an air cylinder 41 activated permitting the article B to be held at its both sides with holding plates 35 and 36. Simultaneously, the suction holes (not shown) of the plates 35 and 36 are made vacuous with a vacuum pump (not shown) driven permitting the article B to be stuck to the holding plates 35 and 36. This configuration enables the article to be held positively.
