A method and a device for arresting the rotor of a steam turbine (1) for transport is proposed, in which axial arresting can be achieved by an arresting part (4), which is inserted at both ends between outer casing (2) and turbine shaft (7). The stepped arresting parts (4) are arranged on flexible mounts (5) with covers (6) and are inserted through openings (3) on the outer casing (2).
