The invention relates to a housing for mechanisms, in particular gear mechanisms on engines and machines. The aim of the invention consists in saving on materials and manufacturing outlay and in improving accessibility during assembly. It is the object of the invention to provide a housing which, in combination with simple, easy-to-manufacture construction and replaceability of the housing parts, makes possible noise reduction in adaptation to requirements. According to the invention, the object is achieved by the fact that the protective part consists of a plurality of shells which are arranged on the main body of the housing via flexible fastening elements and, in the load-bearing part, the sealing cover is arranged on the yoke by means of flexible fastening elements, and the oil pan is arranged on the bearing block of the main body of the housing by means of flexible fastening elements, and the base frame, the bearing block and the yoke are of honeycomb design and/or provided with hollow profiles. The invention can be used for all mechanisms on engines and machines.
