A chain saw with an endless sawing chain comprised of articulated links is provided with guiding flaps for guiding the sawing chain into a groove of the blade of the chain saw. A driving wheel is provided at the end of the blade on the motor side to drive the chain, guided at the free end of the blade on return wheels in the form of toothed wheels. In the cutting section of the blade (2), the chain (3) is guided and supported on the points (7a) of the teeth (7) of other toothed wheels (5) mounted on roller bearings, thereby enabling to obtain a chain saw which eliminates the deficiencies of prior measures taken to reduce the friction between the chain and the blade of the saw, the side guiding and the support of the chain in the cutting section of the blade being provided for, while avoiding the friction which prior existed between the chain and the blade.
