In a circuit comprising a pair of alternators supplying a common D.C. load, the voltage of one of the alternators is automatically regulated in such a manner that the load current is equally shared between the alternators. As shown, alternators 11,12 supply a common D.C,load 15 over transformer-rectifier units 13, 14 respectively. Voltage regulators 18 and 19, each acting on the field winding of an associated alternator, are connected to a comparator 24 which also receives voltage signals, derived over current transformers 20, 21 and rectifiers 22, 23, which are dependent upon the output currents of the units 13,14; any difference between these output currents causes the comparator 24 to modify the action of the voltage regulator associated with one alternator, e.g. that supplying the lower current, so that the said difference is decreased. Suitable transistorised circuitry for the components 18,19 and 24 is described with reference to Fig. 2 (not shown).</p> |
