PURPOSE:To enable printing to be performed without restricting the side or shape of a paper, by a construction wherein a platen in a printer is provided with a belt structure, and a function for sensing the form and the position of a paper is provided. CONSTITUTION:The platen in the printer has a construction wherein a belt 2 is pinched by rollers 1. The printer 3 is provided with a function of sensing the shape of the paper and a function of sensing the position of the paper. Accordingly, irrespectively of the position of the paper on the belt 2 or the size of the paper, the printer 3 can automatically sense the position and the size of the paper, and can print on the paper. |
