INSPECTION SYSTEM FOR FLOPY RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To perform fast inspection processing through a simple mechanism by dividing and scanning a floppy recording medium with plural magnetic heads. CONSTITUTION:A head carriage 21 has plural magnetic heads 22-24 arranged at specific intervals. The magnetic heads 22-24 are each put in charge of several tracks of the floppy recording medium 3 and a front and a rear magnetic head move until their inspection tracks overlap each other and then perform inspection. Thus, the floppy medium is divided and scanned with the plural heads to perform the inspection, whose speed is increased by the number of the magnetic heads. Consequently, a small-sized inspection device which performs the fast inspection continuously with high precision while the medium is stored in a jacket or bare without being put in the jacket is realized. Further, an overlap scan is made to make corrections so that difference in characteristics among the magnetic heads 22-23 is absorbed.
