PURPOSE:To obtain a polyamide composite material excellent in mechanical and thermal properties, by increasing the flexibility of prepregs by impregnating fiber reinforcements with a monomer composition comprising an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid, an o-ethylaniline/formaldehyde condensate and an agent for introducing terminal functional groups. CONSTITUTION:A prepreg obtained by impregnating a fiber reinforcement with a monomer composition comprising an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid or its derivative (a), an o-ethylaniline/formaldehyde condensate (b) and an agent (c) for introducing terminal functional groups. Exemplary of component (a) used are acids such as pyromellitic or 3,3',4,4'-benzophenonetetracarboxylic acid or their derivatives such as lower alkyl esters and dianhydrides. Exemplary of component (c) are unsaturated dicarboxylic acids or their derivatives (e.g., maleic acid, itaconic acid and their alkyl esters) and unsaturated group- containing amino compounds (e.g., p-aminophenylacetylene).
