PURPOSE:To prevent the stripping of Sn or Sn alloy plating from phosphor bronze for a long period by plating phosphor bronze with Ni, Co or an Ni-Co alloy before the bronze is plated with Sn or an Sn alloy. CONSTITUTION:Phosphor bronze is plated with Ni, Co or an Ni-Co ally to 0.01-0.1mum thickness, or it is further plated with Cu or a Cu alloy. The plated phosphor bronze is then plated with Sn or an Sn alloy by a conventional method in a plating bath such as a borofluoride bath, a sulfate bath, a sulfamate bath, a pyrophosphate bath, a neutral org. acid bath or tan alkaline stannate bath.
