PURPOSE:To speed up the addition cycle of the final partial product when the N partial products are added together by providing a carry save adder which adds the 1st - the (N-1)th partial products and a carry save adder which adds the Nth - the (N-1)th partial products. CONSTITUTION:A multiplier is set in a multiplier register 11 and a multiplicand is set in a multiplicand register 12; and a control latch 14 controls a selector 13 and selects the 2nd partial multiplier from the lowest multiplier in the multiplier register 11. Then, the control latch 14 controls the selector 13 to select the 3rd partial multiplier from the lowest multiplier in the register 11. Then, the control latch 14 controls the selector 13 to select the final partial multiplier. A multiple generator 15 generates a multiple on the basis of those partial multipliers and the multiplicand in the multiplicand register 12 and it is passed through the 1st CSA tree 16 to generate the final partial multiplier P4. |
