PURPOSE:An analytical element, obtained by forming a reagent layer on a support, and providing a porous layer prepared by mixing a necessary enzyme with a protective agent for the enzyme, and dispersing and incorporating the mixture in the layer on the reagent layer, capable of keeping the enzymic activity, and analyzing rapidly a specific component in a fluid. CONSTITUTION:An analytical element obtained by laminating a reagent layer of a hydrophilic binder, e.g. gelatin, containing at least one reagent reactive with a component in a fluid sample on a transparent support having 50-250mum film thickness, e.g. cellulose acetate, and laminating a development layer prepared by dispersing and incorporating a mixture of an enzyme (A) required for reaction inducing a specific component to a detectable substance, e.g. cholesterol esterase, with protein containing no substance substantially interfering analysis of the specific component or enzymic reaction producing the specific component and/or polypeptide compound (B), e.g. albumin, at 10:1-1:5,000 weight ratio of the protein in the components (A) and (B) with a solvent, e.g. xylene, in a porous layer having a fibrous structure with 100-500mum film thickness and 20-85% voids on the above-mentioned layer.
