PURPOSE:To properly change largely-anisotropic graphite into graphite-layered compound having an optimum condition by initially-charging, in sulfuric acid with assigned specific weight, a lead storage battery providing positive polar plate on which a positive polar paste containing largely-anisotropic graphite is filled. CONSTITUTION:A lead storage battery using a positive electrode, on which largely-anisotropic graphite is added into a positive polar paste, is initially- charged in sulfuric acid with 1.10 to 1.25 specific weight. Hence, graphite can be properly changed into graphote-layered compound in which sulfuric acid hydrogen ions and sulfuric acid molecules serve as invading substances. Resultantly, while conductive nature of graphite is improved, both initial performance and life performance of the lead storage battery can be improved. |
