PURPOSE:To restrain slippage of one of wheels running on a rough road by proiding a pressure member which can press and move a differential rest ricting means in the direction of an increasing friction force to control the pressing operation in accordance with the state of road surface. CONSTITUTION:The state of road surface is sensed by a sensor and the data on the state is analyzed and estimated. In accordance with the estimation, the engaging requirements of a friction clutch 13 and the operating pressure for a piston 33 which meets the requirements are determined. The determined data is converted by a regulator in variation ratio of pressure of working fluid. The ratio is then fed to a piston 33 is a conduit and a working fluid passage 37 to activate the piston 33. An output shaft 9 and a differential case 1 are thereby subjected to differential restriction in accordance with engaging force of the friction clutch 13 so that a torque is also transmitted to another output shaft 11. Wheels at one side only can be restricted for slippage on a rough road so that the wheels can be quickly pulled out from any depression on the road without fail.
