The power-supply device for a terminal which is connected to an exchange system via a subscriber connecting line, electrical power being supplied into the subscriber connecting line at the exchange end, and, in the terminal, a DC/DC voltage converter with a switching regulator being connected to the subscriber connecting line, is provided at the exchange end with an adaptive current-limiting device, the response current in the current-limiting device being set as a function of the applied supply voltage.
