In a directional control valve (11) intended for block type of construction, the connections (15, 16, 17) in the flange faces (12A, 12B) of the housings (10A, 10B) to be connected are arranged in a direction decreasing in pressure level. Between the two flange faces (12A, 12B) of the housing, a lamina (26) is located in the area of the low-pressure connection (17) so that a wedge-shaped gap (27) results between the two housings (10A, 10B) to be connected. When several directional control valves (11) are fastened to form a common block, the flange face (12) in the area of the spool bore (13) is only slightly loaded so that the housing does not distort and the control spool (14) is always easily movable. The lamina (26) can easily be exchanged and can be designed in its size and thickness in accordance with the tightening torque of the tie rod. <IMAGE>
