摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To improve the reliability by coupling thin film nonlinear elenents to respective picture elements of either of line electrodes and row electrodes which are disposed to face each other via a liquid crystal and forming a thin metallic film for the 1st layer of said element, an org. insulating film for the 2nd layer and an ITO film for the 3rd layer. CONSTITUTION:The line electrodes are formed on one of the substrates facing each other via the liquid crystal 77 of the liquid crystal display device using the nonlinear elements and the row electrodes are formed on the other. The thin film nonlinear elements are coupled to the respective picture elements of at least one of said electrodes. Each of said elements is formed of the thin metallic film 52 for the 1st layer, the org. insulating film 54 for the 2nd layer and the ITO film or metallic film 56 for the 3rd layer. The film 54 is formed of a polymer having high polarity such as polyvinylidene chloride or a heat resistant polymer such as polyimide or polysulfone. PVAL, gelatin, etc. are used for the film 54 and the film 54 may be dyed and used as a color filter as well.</p>
