PURPOSE:To decrease raw material cost, and to improve productivity, by holding a raw material mixture in-between mixtures composed of powdery lime stone and cokes, and charging them on a pallet, firing them to sintered ore, and recovering, reutilizing the generated quick lime. CONSTITUTION:The mixture 2 composed of powdery lime stone and cokes is charged in the pallet 4 along a side wall 4a in the state broadened downwardly and the raw material mixture 1 is charged to center part in the pallet 4. The mixture 1 is converted to sintered ore by firing and powdery lime stone in the mixture 2 is converted to quick lime by thermal decomposition. Since gap caused by contraction of the mixture 1 during firing is filled with the mixture 2, leakage of combustion air is prevented and inferior firing is eliminated. The sintered ore 1 and quick lime are cooled, then crushed, the grain size is selected, quick lime is recovered together with return fine Quick lime and used as a binder during pelletizing of the material 1.
