PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition of high gasoline, brake oil and warm water resistance, for use in substrate on metallic base constituting, e.g., automo bile parts, by either mixing or precondensation of bisphenol A type epoxy resin and special phenolic resin in specific proportion. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition containing a product from either mixing or precondesation of (A) 40-90wt% of a bisphenol A type epoxy resin and (B) 10-60wt% of a phenolic resin with a number-average molecular weight >=800, number of bound formaldehyde per phenolic nucleus 0.5-2.0 and number of bound methylene per phenolic nucleus 0.4-1.94.
