PURPOSE:To obtain the titled highly reliable magnetic head by inclining a ferromagnetic thin film forming surface and a magnetic gap forming surface at a desired angle, and providing a nonmagnetic high-hardness film between a ferromagnetic oxide and a ferromagnetic metallic thin film. CONSTITUTION:The joining surfaces of magnetic core half bodies 10 and 11 consisting of a ferromagnetic oxide are notched to form magnetic thin film forming surfaces 10a and 11a, a ferromagnetic metallic thin film 13 such as an Fe-Al-Si alloy film is formed on the forming surfaces 10a and 11a by a vacuum thin film forming technique, and both ferromagnetic metallic thin films 13 are joined to each other to form a magnetic gap. The ferromagnetic thin film forming surfaces 10a and 11a and a magnetic gap forming surface 14 are inclined at a desired angle of theta, a nonmagnetic high-hardness film 12 is furnished between the Mn-Zn ferrite 10 and 11 and the ferromagnetic metallic thin film 13, and further the ferromagnetic metallic thin film 13 and oxide glass 16 are provided on the tape-facing surface through a nonmagnetic high-hardness film 15.
