PURPOSE:To allow a catalytic reaction to proceed to a desired rate of reaction by arranging alternately a honeycomb catalyst bed and a steam generating boiler using a heat transfer medium in the drum of a reactor wherein an exothermal catalytic reaction is carried out. CONSTITUTION:A reaction gas (before reaction) 101 supplied from a gas inlet 2 passes through a rectifying plate 3, enters a honeycomb catalyst bed 6, and passed through the catalyst bed 6 with an increase in temp. as the reaction proceeds. Then the reaction gas is circulated through a tube 8 whose outside is surrounded with water to recover the heat of the hot reaction gas leaving the catalyst bed 6, and the water is simultaneously evaporated to recover the heat as steam. The reaction gas after heat recovery is again sent into the honeycomb catalyst bed 6 to allow the reaction to proceed to a desired rate of reaction, and then the reaction gas 102 is discharged from an outlet 9. |
