PURPOSE:To always prevent missing and overlapping in reading the chrominance-separated picture information by performing the control of the reading device by the unit of controlling which is a combination of the chrominance-separation numbers. CONSTITUTION:When a signal STA is supplied to a controller 15, respective lighting command is sequentially outputted to respective light source drivers 12-14 through a ternary counter 11 in accordance with a prescribed sequence to perform the on/off control of the respective light sources. Simultaneously, a driving command is issued to a motor driver 10 to stat the subscanning transfer of the original. Then, when a signal STP is supplied to the circuit 15, it activates the counter 11 until the on-going on/off cycle of respective light sources of R,G,B ends in order to continue issuing the lighting command to respective drivers 12-14 as well a to the driver 10. In, such a manner, the drive control of the reading is performed by using the combination of chrominance separation between R,G, and B as a control unit when the colored picture information is read.
