The peg according to the invention comprises a hollow body made of a cellulose-containing substance and coated with paraffine outside, and at least one plant nutrient and/or preventive material and/or plant protective. The peg is particularly useful for treating plants with wood-forming stems; it may be used successfully in town parks, for treating trees of shrubs by the roads, to fruit-trees or grape, or by afforestation to the young trees. The active ingredient and/or preventive material and/or plant protective is released in a protracted way and the peg itself is also decomposed, eliminating thereby the pollution.
