PURPOSE:To rewrite securely a special signal by writing the special signal at a position different from previous write positions when the special signal is written in the same sector plural times. CONSTITUTION:If some sector is defective or unnecessary, a CPU13 sends the address of the defective or unnecessary sector to a sector address detecting circuit 15 and also sends a special signal write command signal 31 and a setting signal 32 for the number of times of writing to the sector to a special signal writing circuit 30. The special signal writing circuit 30 sends special signal data 33 and a special signal recording gate signal 34 to an optical disk drive 26 according to said signals to write the special signal in the defective or unnecessary sector. If the CPU13 detects an abnormal signal 37 during the writing of the special signal, the special signal writing is finished when the special signal is detected in the sector; the special signal is recorded again by shifting back the writing position when the special signal is not detected owing to a track jump or dropout, thereby rewriting the special signal securely.
