PURPOSE:To reproduce images having high quality superior in sharpness by providing a leveling member which makes the layer thickness of a developer layer uniform and repulsive magnetic poles included in a developer carrying carrier so that they are close to each other. CONSTITUTION:A layer thickness control member 7 and a leveling member 12 are provided closely, and repulsive magnetic poles are provided under the layer thickness control member 7 and the leveling member 12. The leveling member 12 is so provided that it is brought into contact with the developer layer under the repulsive magnetic field just after this developer layer is formed by the layer thickness control member 7. Thus, the developer layer is formed to a uniform thickness. Since the developer is stagnated temporarily at the upperstream of the leveling member, the gap between the leveling member and the developer carrying carrier can be 1.3-4.0 times as wide as that between the layer thickness control member and the developer carrying carrier, and the developer is prevented from clogging under the leveling member. |
