PURPOSE:To prevent formation of by-products of polymer, by carrying out Diels-Alder reaction of a conjugated diolefin compound and an olefin compound in the presence of an alkylphenolic compound. CONSTITUTION:Diels-Alder reaction of a conjugated olefin compound and an olefin compound is carried out in the presence of 10-10,000ppm (preferably 100-5,000ppm) based on the total amounts of a compound shown by the formula (R1-R3 are H, or 1-6C alkyl). 2,6-Di-6-butylphenol, 2,6-xylenol, etc. may be cited as the compound shown by the formula. EFFECT:A polymerization reaction can be suppressed, and continuous operation can be carried out for a long time without hindrance.
