PURPOSE:To facilitate the diposal of waste oil, by using a waste oil treatment agent comprising a powder consisting of a highly water-absorbable resin and a surfactant supported porous substance or a mixture of said powder and water. CONSTITUTION:A watste water treatment agent is obtained from a powder comprising silicic anhydrate consisting of a highly water-soluble resin, which comprises a hydrolysate of a starch/acrylonitrile graft polymer, and a surfactant comprising polyglycerine unsaturated fatty acid ester or a mixture of said powder, consisting of the highly water-soluble resin and the surfactant, and water. The ratios of the surfactant and the porous substance (carrier) to one pts.wt. of the highly water-soluble resin are respectively 0.1-10pts.wt. and 0.1-10pts.wt. and, in treating waste oil, a method, wherein 50-300pts.wt. of water is added to the waste oil treatment agent and 50-300pts.wt. of waste oil is subsequently added thereto to mix all of them and waste oil is subsequent ly added to the resulting pasty mixture by 50-300pts.wt., is pref. used.
