PURPOSE:To form a metallic surface having superior corrosion resistance and melting resistance by treating the surface of an iron alloy or alloy cast iron contacting with molten metal with gaseous halogen. CONSTITUTION:Iron is alloyed with nonferrous metal, Al, Ni, Mg or other nonferrous metal which forms a protective film by a reaction with halogen, and the protective film is formed on the surface of the resulting iron alloy with gaseous halogen. The formed protective film is not damaged by a highly deoxidizing metal such as molten Al. |
