PURPOSE:To eliminate the wastefulness of an ink film, by making the length of a unit monochromatic ink region in an auxiliary scanning direction equal to or less than that of the printing region of recording paper in the auxiliary scanning direction. CONSTITUTION:The length (l) of a unit monochromatic ink region is set to 50-60% of the length of the printing region of recording paper in an auxiliary scanning direction. The recording paper 10 is detected by a paper sensor 15 and the monochromatic ink discrimination mark Sy of a color ink film 11 is detected by a sensor 14 and both of them receive positional alignment while feed timings thereof are controlled respectively by motors 7, 8 through a paper feed roller pair 4 and a film feed roller pair 6 and fed between a thermal head and a platen roller 2. A solenoid 90 is turned ON from the point of time when the fed film 11 and recording paper 10 reached the printing part of the thermal head 1 according to a printing signal by the other of a control part 16 and the film 11 and the recording paper 10 are contacted with the platen roller 2 under pressure by the thermal head 1 and the motors 7, 8 are operated to perform printing. |
