PURPOSE:To shorten the time for replacing tool as well as the time out of machining in an automatic tool replacement device of a machining center, by allowing advance, rotation and retraction in the tool replacing action to be overlapped and interlocked, and by constituting the actions from mechanical means using a parallel cam. CONSTITUTION:This machine tool includes a column 2 movable in the Z-axis direction (fore and aft), a spindle head 6 movable in the Y-axis direction (up and down), a table 11 movable in the X-axis direction (to left and right) with a work to be processed W placed thereupon, a tool storage magazine 19 for accommodation of a tool, and an automatic replacing device 15 for tools (designated as ATC). The ATC15 is provided with a twin arm 14 to replace the tool fitted on the spindle 7 of the spindle head 6 with a tool supplied from said tool storage magazine 19, wherein the twin arm 14 is advanced by a drive means to transfer into rotation on the way of advancing, followed by retracation on the way thereof, the three actions being interlocked to provide a complete process. Said drive means has a parallel cam to ensure that the three actions are performed smoothly in a short period of time.
