In an articulated road train with traction vehicle and semitrailer, the coupling device has a coupling element which can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and is connected to an overrunning brake of the semitrailer so as to apply braking force. The displaceable coupling element is preferably the pick-up plate of the semitrailer which has the kingpin. As a result, even for heavy articulated road trains, a reliable, effective caliper-type overrunning brake is provided in which even conventional commercially available overrunning devices with design certification can be used.
