PURPOSE:To facilitate the permeation of a liquid resin into a base and the impregnation of the base with it and to make constant the amount of impregnation, by specifying the atmospheric conditions in the impregnation stage. CONSTITUTION:A base 1 comprises continuous paper or glass cloth and is continuously payed out from a roll 4 to be fed to an impregnation stage 3 through an accumulator 5 and various rolls. The base 1 fed to the impregnation stage 3 is brought by a guide roller 9a in contact with an application roll 7 whose lower side is immersed in a liquid resin 2 so that the liquid resin 2 may be applied to one surface of the base 1. The atmosphere in the impregnation stage, that is, the section (enclosed by phantom line in the figure) from the point just before the part where the base 1 is fed to the guide roll 9a to the point just after the part where the base 1 leaves squeeze rolls 10 is set such that the temperature is 25 deg.C or above and the relative humidity is 60% or above. Under these atmospheric conditions, the permeation of the liquid resin 2 into the base 1 can be assisted, and the quantity of the impregnation of the base 1 with the liquid resin 2 can be made constant.
