PURPOSE:To improve characteristics of a head drum motor by performing time-division control over a head drum motor and a capstan motor by using a one-chip microcomputer. CONSTITUTION:Rotating speed detection pulses obtained by a rotating speed detector 5 for the head drum motor 4 are amplified and then inputted to the external interruption terminal of the one-chip microcomputer 1. The microcomputer 1 compares the pulses with a reference value to calculate a speed error and performs filter arithmetic and then a motor driving instruction converted into an analog value drives the head drum motor 4. Rotating speed detection pulses obtained by a rotating speed detector 9 for a capstan motor 8 are amplified and then inputted to the external interruption terminal of the microcomputer 1. The microcomputer 1 adds a speed error signal, obtained by comparing the speed with a reference value, to a tracking error signal generated by converting the output of a tracking error generating circuit 11 into a digital value and then performs filter arithmetic; and a motor driving instruction converted into an analog value drives the capstan motor 8. Consequently, the drum motor is controlled with high precision and the capstan motor is also controlled sufficiently.
