Butane 1,4 diol, pentane 1,5 diol and hexane 1,6 diol are produced from nylon waste acids comprising adipic, glutaric and succinic acids by esterification, separation of the esters and hydrogenation of the esters to produce the diol products. The products have remarkably good purities and are suitable for direct use in polyester or polyether resin manufacture. |
