PURPOSE:To make complete combustion of non-ignited constituent after diminishing of flame and to prevent a generation of odor by a method wherein electricity is applied when a heater for heating combustion body is started to operated and when the flame is diminished. CONSTITUTION:An energization of an electrical heating coil 3 is terminated when the flame is diminished, gasification of oil is stopped and then the flame is diminished. However, even if the energization of the electrical heating coil 3 is stopped, the gasification of oil is not diminished and the gasification of the oil is gradually decreased for a while and then diminished. In this case, the energization of the electrical heating 3 is terminated when the flame is diminished and at the same time if the electrical heater 13 is energized, a temperature of the catalyst combustion body 9 is decreased and the lean gasified gas generated after operation of diminishing of flame is also ignited. In this case, although the heater 13 may discharge its heat downstream side under a blowing of air, the catalyst combustion body 9 arranged at the upstream side is heated by hot radiation heat without being influenced by a direction of flow.
