PURPOSE:To check easily the function of a disc controller by substituting a disc device with a spurious disc device. CONSTITUTION:A spurious disc 4 is so constituted that it can be connected to a connector which connects a disc controller 2 and a disc device 3. The spurious disc is connected to the connector, and the whole of a system is operated to check the operation of the disc controller 2. For example, a control signal is given to the spurious disc 4 through the disc controller 2 in accordance with the instruction of a host CPU1. If the host CPU1 does not receive any signal though the spurious disc 4 processes said control signal and supplies a response signal to the disc controller 2, the host CPU1 displays that some trouble occurs in the recording system. In this case, the function trouble of the disc controller 2 is detected easily.
