PURPOSE:To obtain the electrode material for wire cut electric discharge machining having high strength and superior electric conductivity by incorporating specific amounts of Cr, Zr, etc., or further 1 or >=2 kinds among Ni, Ag, Sn, P, Ti, Nb, and Si to Cu. CONSTITUTION:As the electrode material for use in wire cut electric discharge machining, a Cu alloy containing, in Cu, 0.1-1.0wt% Cr and/or 0.01-0.5wt% Zr, or further containing 0.005-1.0wt%, each, of 1 or >=2 kinds among Ni, Ag, Sn, P, Ti, Nb, Si, and the like, is used. The electrode material for wire cut electric discharge machining excelling in the electric discharge machining speed as well as in strength and heat resistance can be obtained without causing deterioration in electric conductivity.
