PURPOSE:To perform retransmission with correction with the error data for each line information by transmitting the code information corresponding to the line information together with said line information, and returning the code information to the transmission side when an error is detected at the reception side. CONSTITUTION:When information is transmitted again (at the transmission side), a coded line number is added to each line and sent together with the picture information. At the reception side, the line number contained in the picture information is checked for decision of the presence/absence of a reception error. Then the line number is deleted for decoding when no error is detected. If a reception error is detected, a control signal is transmitted at the reception side to interrupt the transmission of picture signal at the transmission side. Then the reception side informs the retransmission request start number to the transmission side. At the transmission side, a retransmission request is detected by a retransmission request signal detecting circuit 6 and starts the transmission of the retransmission request line number through a retransmission start address memory 20, etc.
