PURPOSE:To obtain the shadow mask material suitable as a picture tube for color television by incorporating specific percentage of C, Si, Al, Mn, Ni, and Cr to Fe. CONSTITUTION:The alloy consisting of, by weight, <=0.10% C, <=0.30% Si, <=0.30% Al, 0.1-1.0% Mn, 30-45% Ni, 2.0-10.0% Cr, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is prepared. On piercing by etching, this alloy gives crystal grains smaller than those of grain size No.5.0 in the annealing prior to flat mask working and press forming, so that the excellent shadow mask can be obtained.
