PURPOSE:To reproduce a picture with a high quality and in a high definition by operating a detecting means, a smoothing means, and an emphasizing means by a folding up method and equalizing the size of each nucleus necessary to fold up, concerning the picture processing device of a facsimile equipment, etc. CONSTITUTION:An edge emphasizing device (b) outputs an original picture or an edge emphasizing picture signal where the original picture and an edge are mixed at a certain ratio. A smoothing device (c) smooths a picture. A mixing device (d) changes and outputs the mixing ratio of an edge emphasizing picture and a smoothing picture in accordance with the signal of the edge detecting device. In an edge emphasizing part 302 corresponding to the edge emphasizing device (b), the output of an edge (edge detection) emphasizing part 5 is multiplied with a control signal S9 by a multiplier 6. Further, an edge detecting means (a), a smoothing means (b), and an edge emphasizing means (c) are operated by the folding-up method, and the size of each nucleus necessary to fold up is equalized. |
