PURPOSE:To maintain a good discharge characteristic even after prolonged storage by utilizing both the hydrophilic property surface and the water repellency surface of the separator interposed between electrolytic solution and an air electrode. CONSTITUTION:The air cell of this invention is constituted by interposing a separator between an air electrode and a gelled aqueous electrolytic solution where a negative electrode material is dispersed. The separator has not only a hydrophilic property surface, which facilitates the migration of electrolytic solution into the air electrode, but also a water repellency surface which inhibit this migration. Due to the above structure, excessive migration of electrolytic solution is inhibited. Furthermore, a good discharged characteristic is maintained even after prolonged storage by causing the air electrode to have a sufficient reactive surface area by avoiding increasing the water repellency of the air electrode. |
