This invention is a device for positioning a machine element (69) in a clamping tool (1) initiating from at least one gear profile (56) of the machine element (69). A similar device is preferably designed for centring a gear wheel (69) in a chuck (1) for a work machine, such as a grinder. The invention is distinguished primarily bythe device containing a number of ball races (64, 65) that are opposite each other in pairs following the axial direction of the tool (1). The end faces of these races have axial cavities that constitute the seats for balls (67) situated between the ball races (64, 65) with a certain clearance andthe balls (67) being designed to during positioning engage in the gear profile's tooth gaps (70) and be brought to lie against the gears (56) in the gear profile by the forces of the tool (1) with its clamping jaws (30).The invention allows the gear profile to be optimally centered before final grinding of the gear wheel's (69) centre hole (72), thereby reducing the effects of any form defects, such as eccentricity in the gear wheel (69).<IMAGE> |
