The invention relates to a piston, in particular that of an internal combustion engine, with a gudgeon pin and a connecting rod engaging at that point, the piston or the connecting rod being provided with holes in which the gudgeon pin is mounted in a floating manner. While retaining the same weight ratios, the invention proposes a gudgeon pin for such a piston which, without loss of functioning capacity, bears a high proportion of the load and is inexpensive to manufacture. According to the invention, this is achieved by virtue of the fact that the gudgeon pin is designed as a solid pin and that the length/diameter ratio l/d of the pin is between 1.5 and 2.0.
